Pray

In Islam, prayer (Ṣalāh) is one of the Five Pillars and is performed five times a day at prescribed times:

  1. Fajr – before dawn
  2. Dhuhr – midday, after the sun has passed its zenith
  3. Asr – afternoon
  4. Maghrib – just after sunset
  5. Isha – night

Muslims perform these prayers facing the Kaaba in Mecca. Each prayer consists of specific movements (standing, bowing, prostration, and sitting) and recitations from the Quran, primarily Surah Al-Fatiha and other verses.

Apart from these obligatory prayers, Muslims can also offer Sunnah and Nafl (voluntary) prayers, as well as special prayers like Jumu’ah (Friday prayer), Taraweeh (during Ramadan), and Janazah (funeral prayer).
